Round prefabricated pool

Prefabricated round pools are the most advantageous option if you want to own a pool.

Before starting the excavation work on the pool, it is advisable to comply with the following conditions in order to enjoy your pool for a long time:

  • The place where the pool will be installed should not be on an embankment
  • In case the pool will be installed on a slope, the place that will be prepared for placing the pool must be flat and not on an embankment. Also, a retaining wall must be built on the side of the slope. In no case should the pool wall directly support the slope.
  • Avoid groundwater

Round prefabricated pools can be installed on the surface of the ground, they can be semi-embedded or fully embedded in the ground.

When installing round semi-embedded and embedded pools, a trench is first made with a diameter of about 1 m larger than the size of the pool. When digging a trench, you should allow 15-20 cm for a concrete bottom and estimate how much of the pool will be visible above the ground.

Then, a siphon is installed and a reinforced concrete bottom with a thickness of 15-20 cm is cast. The bottom should be perfectly smooth and even. After the concrete has been cast, you can begin assembling the pool. First, the lower finishing profile is placed, and the individual pieces are connected in the shape of a circle.

The next step is to begin assembling the metal wall of the pool. It is inserted into the lower profile in a hole provided for this. Now you can cut holes for a skimmer, nozzles, and spotlights in the pool wall.

Before attaching the PVC foil to the pool wall, a geotextile pad is laid on the bottom. It insulates the foil from the concrete and preserves its elasticity for a long time.

The main element of the pool is the PVC foil. It acts as a waterproofing. PVC foil is extremely elastic and can shrink and stretch depending on the air temperature. In order to install the foil without any problems, the air temperature must be between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.

The foil arrives pre-cut according to the shape of the pool.

Then the PVC foil is attached to the upper edge of the metal wall and the upper finishing profile is placed on it. An important advantage is to use a type of upper profile that does not need to be removed when it is time to change the foil. This saves the need to break the curb stone, if the pool has one.

After the foil is attached to the pool wall, it is filled with about 5 - 10 cm of water. Now it is time to stretch the foil along the bottom of the pool.

Then the pool is filled with another 30-40 cm to stretch the foil on the walls. Now the skimmer, nozzles, and spotlights are installed.

Now the sand filter system is installed and connected to the pool.

Once the pool is half filled with water, it is time to start the backfill around it. The backfill is made of drier concrete. Its purpose is to protect the pool wall from damage in the event of subsidence of the soil around the pool.

Do not be fooled into thinking that you can avoid making a backfill. Here is a pool where they saved on a backfill. The soil has slipped and bent the metal structure.

The backfill must be done very carefully, as the water level in the pool should always be 20-30 cm higher than the level of the embankment.

It is a good idea to put insulation made of extruded polystyrene between the pool wall and the concrete.

Once the backfill is complete, the pool installation is complete.
