For many people, owning a pool is considered a luxury that only rich people with incomes well above the average can afford. I can assure you that this is no longer the case. Nowadays, any wish for a pool can be realized, depending on the budget you have.
Pools in the low price range can be divided into three categories.
The first category includes the cheapest pools for a few hundred leva, which are offered in some large retail chains or on the Internet by unknown commercial companies. With these pools, you should be especially careful about what technical equipment you get. In most cases, water filtration is carried out by a small cartridge filter, which is often unable to cope with its task. These pools most often have problems with water hygiene, which can endanger the health of the people who use them. To prevent this from happening, it is advisable to replace the water with new water once a week. This, in turn, is associated with high water bills. In the end, a cheap pool can cost you quite a lot.
The second category includes the classic round pool with a metal prefabricated structure and an inner PVC foil lining. These pools are usually offered with a sand filter system. Several types of these pools are available on the Bulgarian market. The price of pools in this category starts at around 3,000 BGN for the full pool package with technical equipment.
In addition to round, prefabricated pools can be oval or in the shape of the number "eight". Oval pools can only be dug into the ground and require pouring a concrete bottom and building two parallel walls on the straight part of the pool. Thanks to a special supporting structure, "eight" type pools can be placed on the surface of the ground or can be dug into the ground. You can get more information about prefabricated pools on our pool construction website.
The third category includes pools that are built from extruded polystyrene blocks. The internal waterproofing is PVC foil with a thickness of 0.80 mm. The polystyrene blocks are arranged according to the shape of the pool, reinforcement is placed in them and filled with concrete.
The advantage of these pools is that polystyrene provides very good thermal insulation. In combination with a thermal cover and a water heating system, the pool use season can be significantly extended. Another advantage of extruded polystyrene pools is their flexible construction. There is no longer a risk of the walls cracking due to freezing, because the polystyrene and PVC foil absorb the expansion of the ice. The price of a rectangular pool with dimensions of 8.00 m x 4.00 m x 1.50 m starts at 12,000 BGN. You can see other pool sizes on our website for prefabricated pools.
My advice is, before choosing a pool, to gather as much neutral information as possible about it and the technical equipment that the pool comes with. Ask the company that offers the pool to show you a pool that has already been built. This is the best way to get an idea of whether it is worth the investment.
