How to analyze pool water

In order for the water in the pool to be in ideal condition, its composition should be analyzed at least once a week. If such an analysis of the water is not done, the consequences are poor water quality, unwanted irritation, additional work on the pool, as well as wasted use of pool chemicals, in short, these are additional costs.

During the water analysis, the pH (acidity) and disinfectant values (chlorine, bromine, active oxygen) are determined. The pH value plays a key role in the condition of the water. The pH indicators should be between 7.0 and 7.4. If the pH values are higher, the disinfectants lose their effectiveness. For example, if the pH shows 7.8 instead of 7.0, the effect of chlorine decreases by 40%. If the pH is lower than the recommended values, there is a risk of corrosion of the metal elements in the pool.

Chlorine values should be between 0.3 and 0.6 mg. If they are lower, there is a risk of algae formation. The consequences are cloudy and green water.

Water analysis is done using the Pool Tester. It consists of two compartments. In one, the pH values are measured, in the other - the disinfectants (chlorine).
